Today...

...Savannah is 7 months old!  How did this happen so quickly?  I went to the first birthday party for a friends adorable twin boys over the weekend, I can't believe that we'll be watching our little Princess smash her way through a cake in just 5 short months.  I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

...I did something I thought I'd never do. I sent my child to daycare while I am home and I hate it. It is nearly 2 pm and I'm still in my pajamas, I should clarify that I did take a shower and put on clean pajamas. I came down with the same swine flu mysterious illness that James had last week, high fever, achiness, general malaise and a prescription for Tamiflu (actually Relenza for me since it's supposed to be safer for breast feeding) as a precaution but no official diagnosis so I'm home wasting a day away on the couch.  So far, knock on wood, Savannah hasn't come down with it.  She did have a very, very low grade fever (99.4) last night but otherwise she has been fine.  I think the fever may have had to do more with teething than illness.  I've read everywhere that there is no medical reason that teething would cause fever, blah, blah, blah but I've heard time and time again from friends that it does.  I really think we are very close to her first tooth, the drooling is not as abundunt but there is not a second that passes where she doesn't have something in her mouth - usually her entire fist.

I think I'll arm myself with hand sanitizer and a mask and go pick my baby up now.  But not until I leave you with a few pictures.

Bath!

We moved Savannah to the regular bathtub right after Christmas, for the first couple weeks we were scared to death both keeping a hand on her the whole time. Eventually we got brave enough to let her sit on her own.  She LOVES splashing and raking in the toys!

We considered not posting this video but ultimately we decided it was probably ok.

Peas & Peaches

As the title suggests, we have now added peas and peaches to Savannah's ever expanding menu.  I think peas are one of the only vegetables I don't care for (James loves them) and I can't even stand the smell of peaches but lo and behold, she liked them both!  We keep taking pictures with each new food hoping to get the yucky face but obviously we haven't yet.

The closest we've gotten was with the peaches last night but she ended up liking them. She had some in her oatmeal at daycare today and gobbled them up.

I am so proud of our little Princess, so far she hasn't refused a single food! Her menu is slowly expanding, in the past week we've added sweet potatoes and avocado.

She wasn't thrilled with sweet potatoes the first time but she has since warmed up to them, I think maybe the consistency was just a bit too thick at first.  We're going to need to invest in whatever company it is that makes Spray N'Wash because I'm afraid she's going to take after me, I somehow managed to drop food down the front my shirt almost daily when I was a kid.

Much to our surprise she seemed to LOVE avocado, I thought for sure she would hate it.  I told James tongiht that I'm sure she'll end up hating something simple, like apples.

Green Beans!

On Sunday we added another food to the menu, green beans!  She doesn't love them like she loves bananas, but she tolerates them.  I gave her a little taste right after I pureed them and the look on her face was not pleasant, she then spent the next 10 minutes blowing raspberries which we assumed was her way of getting the taste out of her mouth.

Sleep Training

As hard as it was, I used the long holiday weekend for a little sleep training.  Prior to becoming a mom, I thought I'd have no problem letting my children cry it out - turns out, I do have a problem with it.  But then again, there are a lot of things I thought about parenting and what kind of parent I would be before I became one.   But that's a different post for a different day.

Anyway.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday night we let her cry and each night we saw a bit of improvement.  She still woke up crying several times in the night, we just didn't go into comfort her. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to stick.  The past 2 nights she has cried, fussed and/or whimpered for an hour straight before I break down and go in there, I can't sleep through her crying so I get to a point where I have to comfort her so I can get some sleep.  James on the other hand, has no problem sleeping through it - he can actually fall asleep while listening to her cry through the monitor!  So, no New Year's Eve miracle but we're working on it.

2010

Happy New Year (a few days late)!  I am happy, yet sad to bid farewell to 2009 as it was a year of extreme highs and extreme lows.  Heartache, followed by amazingly wonderful joy, followed by heartache.

In 2010 I resolve to stick to a budget and remember that I own running shoes.

We rang in the New Year with Wii remotes in hand waiting for the ball to drop so we could go back to our Super Mario Bros. game, I should mention that the video game was the only reason we were even awake until midnight.  Times, they are a changin' but I'm positive that there is nowhere else I'd rather be.
