The Nation Family: Disney, take 3

I think this might have been our most successful trip yet.

We raced home from work on Friday, loaded up the car with everything we own (why do kids require so much stuff?) including the dogs, and hit the road, or at least I wish it had been that easy. Instead we dropped the doggies off at doggie daycare, swung by my mom’s house to collect her and the munchkin, got some fast food dinner and then finally we were heading in the direction of Orlando for the weekend.

Savannah slept most of the way there, I’m still not sure if that was a blessing or a curse. Had we tried to keep her awake it would have resulted in cranky toddler but wide awake toddler at 11 p.m. wasn’t so great either.

Got up bright and early Saturday morning, had hotel breakfast and crammed into my car to go to the park. Small sedan + five adults + child in car seat ≠comfort, but parking is $14 per car and I’m cheap so I’d rather be uncomfortable myself (and therefore make James slightly uncomfortable) for a 10 minute drive than pay an additional $14.

We had one mission this trip, to see Handy Manny in person at Hollywood Studios. Not only did we see Disney Jr. live on stage (in air conditioned comfort no less) but Savannah got to MEET her beloved Handy Manny. At first she wasn’t so sure about him, but she did give him a high five and blow him a kiss as we were leaving. Mission accomplished.

After the excitement of meeting Handy Manny lunch and a nap were in order. James gets the superstar award here for getting a sleeping Savannah out of the stroller and into his arms for the bus and monorail rides to Magic Kingdom and then back into the stroller, a feat that should not be overlooked. Once she woke up we decided it was far too hot to be anywhere except the pool at the hotel so one real life choo choo ride (from the back of the Magic Kingdom to the entrance) followed by rides on the monorail, bus and tram we were in the 8,000 degree car and on our way to the lukewarm hotel pool where fun was had by all.
